The driver of a vehicle who struck a pedestrian Jan. 6 on Grandview Bench Road was ticketed by police.

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle as it skidded on Grandview Bench Road Friday, Jan. 6 on the way to the ditch.

Salmon Arm RCMP report in a news release that the woman struck was treated in hospital but her current condition isn’t known. The accident occurred between 8 and 9 a.m.

“The weather was clear at the time but the road surface was slippery and in this rural area there are no sidewalks,” states the release. “As the vehicle went in the ditch, the vehicle did strike a female pedestrian who was walking along the roadway at the time.”

Police say the woman, in her 50s, was initially thought to be unharmed.

“The female pedestrian was helped by the driver of the vehicle and did continue on and walked home only to be taken to the hospital a short time later. At hospital it was determined that she had suffered injuries that would require immediate care by a physician.”

Police report the driver was issued a ticket under the provincial Motor Vehicle Act.
