Police beat: Civic collides with semi

A 32-year-old woman was taken to Shuswap Lake General Hospital with facial injuries after a collision between her Honda Civic and a semi trailer. The incident took place May 8 at 8:22 p.m. on the Trans-Canada Highway near 15th Street SW. Initial investigation and witness accounts indicate the eastbound Civic crossed the centre line and struck the front axle of the trailer being hauled.

The driver and passenger of the semi-truck were not injured.

Charges are pending.

Time in cells

A Salmon Arm woman had her car impounded for 90 days and spent some time in the RCMP detachment cells after starting a fight outside the Outlaw’s Saloon at 1 a.m. May 7.

Police observed a fight taking place in the parking lot, and once the altercation was broken up, they discovered the aggressor was intoxicated and had driven to the club.

She was arrested for causing a disturbance and was immediately given the driving prohibition, before being taken to cells to sober up.

Stolen truck discovered

A red Ford F350 truck that had been stolen May 3 from Braby Motors was recovered parked in the 200-block of 6th Avenue SE.

Tourist goes too far

Residents of 37th Street SE  didn’t appreciate the noise created when a Calgary visitor wandered through backyards yelling. The 51-year-old man was disturbing residents at about 8:30 p.m. in his intoxicated attempts to reach the Prestige Harbourfront Resort. He instead spent time lodged in cells at the Salmon Arm RCMP detachment until he sobered up. The man was issued a violation ticket for public intoxication.
