As Shuswap residents dig out Friday morning from the overnight snowstorm, more heavy snow expected today and tonight. But as temperatures increase, the snow will likely be turning to rain.

Environment Canada has issues a snowfall warning for the region Friday. This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected or occurring and encouragge citizens to monitor weather conditions.

A weakening front will continue to give light snow to most interior regions today. The snow will become heavier tonight as a warm front from a Pacific weather system approaches.

"Snow over the Kootenays and Shuswap are expected to change to rain overnight tonight. Total snow amounts of 10 to 20 cm are forecast before the changeover occurs," says a report on the Environment Canada website.
