Shuswap Search and Rescue assisted in transporting a critically injured ATV operator out of the bush to a waiting air ambulance on Sunday, July 6.
Nine volunteer members responded to the call for assistance from BC Ambulance Service paramedics, who had managed to hike in to where the patient, a middle-aged man, had flipped his quad near Anglemont.
Due to the terrain, search and rescue was needed to assist in bringing the man out.
“When we got out to the scene, we were able to put the stretcher onto a special wheel and we wheeled him out the approximately two kilometres to the ambulance, which then took him to the helicopter,” said John Schut, search manager.
He notes the ground was very wet and slippery in the area on the Sunday afternoon due to a sudden rainstorm.
The man had been out on his ATV with two friends at the time of the accident. Chase RCMP were called to the scene and are conducting an investigation.
The man was in critical condition at the time of the transport. His current condition is not known.
