It was triple honours for Observer photographers at the British Columbia and Yukon Community Newspaper Association awards held in Vancouver over the weekend.
James Murray won a gold award for his feature photograph of nature photographer Roy Hancliff with a bird flying around him.
Observer and Eagle Valley News reporter-photographer Lachlan Labere took silver in the same category for a shot of activist and motivational speaker Spencer West talking with students at Eagle River Secondary School.
Rounding out the category, Murray took bronze for a photograph from the Shuswap Market News entitled, Share and Share Alike, which featured a woman and her dog sitting on a truck tailgate and sharing a sandwich.
The Observer also took bronze in the general excellence category for our circulation class of newspapers. The general excellence category includes all elements of the newspaper including editorial, layout and design, photography and advertising.
