School district hosts public forums

The school district is planning three town hall-style meetings in January in an effort to  explain the budget process, the financial challenges facing the school district and hear input on various budget options.

Much like previous years, it is widely expected that the school district will again need to make significant cuts to balance its budget.

The Salmon Arm town hall meeting will be Jan. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Jackson campus of Salmon Arm Secondary. The Enderby meeting is set for Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at A.L. Fortune and the Armstrong meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Secondary.

A town hall meeting is not being scheduled for Sicamous, as a committee is currently exploring the concept of combining Eagle River Secondary and Parkview Elementary into one school. This report is set to come before the school board in February and it is expected a community consultation meeting will be held in Sicamous as part of that process.
