Be prepared.
Early this morning, environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the Shuswap.
A strong upper low, which was northwest of Vancouver Island at 3:40 a.m., will move into the southern B.C. Interior this afternoon then slowly drift eastward tonight and Friday.
As the atmosphere becomes unstable later today, parts of the southern B.C. Interior are likely to receive heavy showers and embedded thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight.
Due to the convective nature of these showers, rainfall will be highly variable across these regions.
Localized rainfall amounts upwards of 20 mm in a short period are possible in some areas.
