With seemingly ever-growing rate increases, Columbia Shuswap Regional District Water Services Co-ordinator Terry Langlois was happy to hand out some good news.

Langlois told directors at the January board meeting that he was in the happy and “unfamiliar position of recommending a rate decrease.” Langlois said South Shuswap’s Copperview Haven Waterworks rates will go down now that the system is connected to the recently up-graded Sorrento Water System. The current fee of $500 per year will be reduced to $350 and the parcel tax will reduced as well. Langlois said the parcel tax, which had been $670, was reduced to $472 and will go to $177 this year.
