Thieves set up shop in Silver Creek

Police discover cache of stolen goods behind community park, two suspects arrested.

Two people have been charged after police discovered a cache of stolen property in Silver Creek.

On Wednesday, May 2, Salmon Arm RCMP received a report from a witness who had observed a quad at the Silver Creek Community Park. It was suspected that it had been stolen earlier in the day near that location.

Upon investigating, police discovered a large cache of stolen property that included two quads, two gas-powered generators, a laptop computer and numerous other assorted tools and equipment. Police estimate the total value of the items at more than $10,000.

Two people were apprehended and charged with possession of stolen property. Charged is Steven Beauvais and Jody Vigne, both from the Kamloops area. Police report that Beauvais is a known prolific property offender. He is being held in custody while Vigne was released by the courts.

The majority of the property recovered has been returned to its owners, but several items remain. If you have any information regarding thefts in the Silver Creek area, you are asked to contact the Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044 or Crime Stoppers.
