Thieves, vandals target mailboxes

Salmon Arm RCMP are asking for public assistance in a number of vandalism and thefts from numerous

Canada Post mailboxes between Jan. 25 and 27.

It is known that at least eight separate public mailboxes have been reported as damaged in the Salmon Arm area during that time.

The incidences occurred in the 1800 block of 13 Ave SE, 2500 block of Auto Rd SE, the 4800 block of 10th

Ave SE, the 1900 block of 10th St. SW and the 600 block of Foothills Road.

In all of these cases mailboxes were knocked over or damaged.

In the 280 block of 10th Ave SE, a mailbox was damaged and individuals were able to gain entry which resulted in four separate mailboxes being compromised. It is unknown at this time if any mail was taken.

It is recommended that residents collect their mail daily to minimize the impact of thefts from occurring.
