Three candidates vying to represent the Salmon Arm-Shuswap riding will be taking part in climate-focused all-candidates meeting.

Following the Wednesday, Oct. 2 all-candidates meeting (ACM) hosted by the Salmon Arm chamber at the Salmar Classic, the Shuswap Climate Action Society (SCAS) is hosting an online ACM from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Candidates confirmed to be participating in the forum include Sylvia Lindgren (BC NDP), Jed Wiebe (BC Green) and David Williams (BC Conservative).

As of Tuesday morning, Sept. 24, Greg McCune, the former BC United candidate now running as an independent, was not participating in the SCAS event, though the chamber had confirmed him for the Oct. 2 ACM.

The SCAS forum will be moderated by Dr. Warren Bell, who will pose questions focused on the candidates' stance on climate change, as well as party platforms and policies they will support to address the climate crisis.

"The next six years will be critical in meeting B.C.'s carbon emission reduction targets and preparing citizens for the impacts of climate change," said the SCAS in  a media release. "The party that forms government has a huge task ahead to establish effective climate policies in the province."

If time allows at the end of the forum, questions from the audience (submitted in the chat) will be posed to the candidates. To participate in register at www.shuswapclimate.org.
