A two-year-old girl has died in New Westminster after what police are calling a suspected drowning.

Police were called to the 300 block of Stanley Street Wednesday night at about 11 p.m. The child was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

“We’ve given the family all the support that we have available to help manage this tragic time in their life,” Serg. Jeff Scott said in a press release.

Police and BC Coroner Service are currently investigating. The cause of death has not been determined and “at this point, foul play is not suspected.”
