UPDATE: March 1, 2:45 p.m.
RCMP have confirmed that the two police incidents that took place in Kelowna on March 1, are related.
At 8 a.m. police were called to the 5700 block of the Gillard FSR on Kelowna Mountain for a situation involving suspects at large. The situation has since concluded.
Then, shortly after 11:00 a.m. police responded to a related incident in Kelowna’s Rutland neighbourhood.
The area around the 1400 block of Gibson Rd was closed from approximately 11:15 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Dale Martell, a Rutland resident was a witness to the incident. Martell told Capital News that he watched police arrest four people from the property at 1460 Gibson Rd.
“The investigation is still on-going and thankfully, all outstanding suspects have been arrested,” said Sergeant Judith Bertrand, Media Relation Officer.
Police and fire crews were seen searching the house and carport after the situation concluded.
Based on the nature of incidents, the assistance of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team was required, said Bertrand.
The Kelowna fire department also responded to the incident.
All roads that were impacted by the incident in Rutland have been reopened.

UPDATE: March 1, 1:35 p.m.
The police incident on Gibson Road in Kelowna’s Rutland community has concluded.
Police appear to have been focused on the house located at 1460 Gibson Rd.
Police and fire crews are now searching the house and carport on the property.
RCMP on scene told Capital News that an investigation into the situation is ongoing but that they will not be releasing details at this time.
Capital News is unable to confirm if people were arrested or the reason for the incident. It is also unclear if the incident is related to the police presence that unfolded on Kelowna Mountain earlier today.
Approximately 15 police vehicles and additional emergency vehicles including fire trucks were parked in the area.

A police incident is currently unfolding on Gibson Road in Kelowna’s Rutland community.
Capital News has received reports that numerous police vehicles converged on the 1300 block of Gibson Rd. shortly before 11:30 a.m. on March 1.
RCMP in the area are blocking all surrounding roads.
Another police incident is simultaneously unfolding on Kelowna Mountain involving suspects at large. At this time there has been no indication from police that the incidents are related.
