UPDATE: Woman and child escape from RV

Update 5:35 pm -

No further word on woman and young child who escaped from RV on 42nd Street NW in Salmon Arm after tree fell on it. They were reported to have been physically unharmed, but recovering from shock.

A tree is reported removed from the westbound lane of Highway 1 east of the mill in Canoe, so two lanes are open.

Sunnybrae-Canoe Point Road was blocked beyond Herald Park.

BC Hydro reports more than 700 Hydro customers in Sunnybrae were without power since about 5 p.m., power was out for about 400 customers in Gleneden, about 100 customers in Cambie-Solsqua near Sicamous, about 35 customers in the White Lake area, and power was out for about 30 customers in the Grandview Bench area and about 20 at Sandy Point.

Most of emergency personnel had returned to quarters.

Update 4:45 - Facebook post reports a tree is blocking the westbound lane of the Trans-Canada Highway, east of the Canoe mill.

Winds struck Salmon Arm with a vengeance Thursday afternoon.

The Salmon Arm Fire Department is responding to reports of wires down or tree damage in several areas around the community, including: • the 4300 block of 42nd Street NW, the 2100 block of Sandy Point Road and the 3000 block of 20th Street NE.

No reports of injuries.
