Born in Tofield, AB to Swedish immigrant parents, Karl and Brita Winquist. Del left the farm at 15 to move to New Westminster where she met her future husband, Thomas Foster. She raised 5 children, the last two on her own. Mom worked as a Home Care Aide looking after the elderly.
After retirement she discovered a remarkable talent for painting and woodworking.
Mom was known for her love of animals. She always had a dog and multiple cats. She would never turn away a stray cat or even a person needing shelter.
Survived by husband Glen McArthur, brother Roland Winquist, children: Louise, Susan, Rick, Scott and Tom; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Predeceased by husband Thomas in 1979.
No Celebration of Life Service due to Covid. Donations in her memory can be made to the SPCA.
Thank you Dr. Heunis for caring for mom. Thank you to the staff at Shuswap Lodge for looking after Del during her time there. Thank you to everyone at Bastion Place for caring for Del these last few years. We know you loved her and feel the loss as we do.
