Alan’s time on earth came to an end suddenly in the early morning of September 2, 2009. He was 46 years of age.

Born in Salmon Arm on December 28, 1962, Alan spent his lifetime living in and around the Shuswap.

Alan’s parents were Marj and Roy Sweeten. Married to his love, Kim in 1985, they had two beautiful children, Nathan and Erin.

Alan’s greatest joys and all he wanted and needed were his family and friends. Together, Alan and Kim spent many wonderful days with their children enjoying the lakes, rivers, mountains and beaches of the Shuswap.

Alan loved working with the school district and wearing many hats; recent years at Ranchero Elementary and Sullivan campus of SASS. Everyone who knew Alan loved him. Alan was devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. A kind and generous, gentle man.

Alan will be loving remembered by his wife, Kim; children, Nathan and Erin; mother, Marj Sweeten; three sisters, Barbara (Al) Parks of Edmonton, Karen (Bruce) Dalsto of Calgary and Linda (Will) Wilson of Calgary. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Estelle Popoff of Salmon Arm; brothers-in-law, Brad (Brenda) Popoff of Burlington, ON and Marty (Deborah) Popoff of Vancouver; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Roy in 1988.

A celebration of Alan’s life was held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm on Saturday, September 5, at 1:00 pm, with Capreece Bowers officiating.
