Albert passed away at Hillside Village in Salmon Arm on February 11, 2018 at the age of 88 with family by his side.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Erika of 57 years, his parents Martin and Rose, his brothers: Fred, Herbert and Ervin and two grandchildren: Jeffrey and Andrew.
He is survived by his sister Hilda, 5 children: Dan (Bev), Jackie (Rod), Lorrie (Jim), Rose and Ruth (Rick), 10 grandchildren: Matthew and Jodi; Chelsea, Nigel and Colin; Wren and Taylor; Riley, Jared and Pierce and 5 great grandchildren: Ella and Hannah; David and Heidi and Sam.
Albert was born January 7, 1930 in Craigmyle, Alberta, the 4th of five children. The family moved to Rosedale, BC in 1938 where Albert attended school to Grade 8, then worked on the family farm. In 1948 he changed from farming to logging. He married Erika in 1953 in Chilliwack where they had 4 children. In 1960 they moved to Hope where they had one more child.
In 1964 they moved to Salmon Arm. Here he farmed for a few years and then worked for the School District in the grounds department, driving school bus and he finished his working days as a school bus mechanic. Albert retired at the age of 57.
Albert was a man of many trades and was very involved with his church over the years. Albert and Erika very much enjoyed having people over for meals and together their strength was showing hospitality.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Hillside Village, Shuswap Lake General Hospital and Shuswap Lodge for all their care over the past years.
A celebration of Albert's life will be held at Shuswap Community Church, 3151 6 Avenue NE, Salmon Arm on February 24, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
