In loving memory ~

Passed into eternal life at Mariposa Gardens Retirement and Care Community, Osoyoos, BC. on April 30, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Askilton, Nova Scotia January 11, 1935.

Predeceased by: John Joseph Crout (father) and Yvonne Augusta Monteney (Mother), Joseph Victor Crout, (Brother) Dorothy Mary Crout (Sister), Richard Jules Crout (Brother) and Ronald Crout (Brother).

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Shirley Crout, Sandra Baker (Sister), Joanne Mattern (Sister), Victoria Crout (Sister), Heather Crout (SIL), John Crout (Brother)and Geraldine Hamilton (SIL). He has five children Pat (Charlie) Olivier, Jack (Sue) McEvoy, Tim (Louise) McEvoy, Laurie Sachko, Richard (Denniece) Crout, 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Al enlisted in the Air Force as soon as he turned 18. He worked as an Airframe Mechanic at CFB Military Base, Cold Lake, AB . Later Al worked for the Town of Fort McMurray. During this time, Al joined the volunteer fire department. He trained and loved the intensity of firefighting. Al had the opportunity to join the Department fulltime. He stayed with the Fire Department until April, 1996. In his 25 years of service he worked his way up the ranks to Captain.

Al was very active. He loved to square dance, work with wood, serve on boards. He loved hunting and fishing. He curled most of his life. After retirement he took up golf, sometimes golfing 36 holes. He was very into physical fitness. He also loved a good game of cards.

In 1970 he accepted the Lord into his life and was baptised into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He joined the Melchizedek Priesthood as an Elder in 1971. He held many positions in the church over the years, some of them being Sunday School president, Councillor for the President, Assistant Membership Clerk, and Branch Clerk. He did a lot of temple work also.

On August 17, 1976 Al and Shirley were married for all Eternity at the Cardston Temple. He had a testament of the Lord and loved Shirley and the Church.

There will be a celebration of his 90 years of love and devotion later this summer. In lieu of flowers contributions in Al's memory can be made to Alzheimer Society of Canada.
