On Saturday, August 16, 2008 Alex Brown passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
Alex is survived by his wife Julie, sons Dan (Vicki) of Prince George and Tom (Catherine) of Dublin, California, USA and daughter Marjorie (Allan) of West Vancouver; his five grandchildren and three great grandchildren; his three sisters: Marion (Charles – deceased) Scott, Riverview, N.B.; Bertha (Arthur – deceased) Langille, Barss Corner, N.S.; Eva (Gordon – deceased) MacRae, Victoria.; and sisters-in-law Jean (Donald – deceased), Kemptown, N.S. and Leona (Ed – deceased), Amherst, N.S.
He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Rachel Brown and five brothers and four sisters: Albert and his wife Stella; Andrew and his wife Elsie; Fred and his wife Audrey; Donald; Margaret and her husband Fulton Hoare; Ed; Gertrude and her husband Jim Hilder; Jean and her husband Samuel Shaw; and Wilena.
Alex worked at International Forest Products Ltd. (formerly Holdings Lumber Co.) for 30 years, retiring in 1988 as foreman of the mobile equipment shop. He enjoyed his many years of service with community organizations in Chase, BC. He was particularly involved with the Village council (and the predecessor Water Board), Volunteer Fire Department and Lions Club.
A celebration of Alex’s life will be held on August 25, 2008 in St. Andrew’s and All Saints Church at 1 pm. Arrangements entrusted to Schoening Funeral Service of Kamloops, BC, telephone (250) 374-1454.
