Anne Elizabeth Browning

November 6, 2008

Anne Elizabeth (Beth) Browning passed away at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Thursday, November 6, 2008, at the age of 82 years.

A memorial service will be held at Bowers Funeral Home on Friday, November 14, at 11:00 a.m.

Born in New Westminster on July 21, 1926, she lived her early years on the lower mainland. After meeting Douglas Browning of Canoe, BC, they settled between Canoe and Field, BC to raise their three children. They then spent seven years in Oliver, BC, owning and operating a motel before returning to Canoe. After Doug passed away, Beth moved to Nelson, BC to be close to her daughter and the adventures that came with that. She spent her final years in Vernon as her health began to decline.

Beth was a trained and accomplished opera singer. She had such a great love for opera; she spent much of her free time organizing and performing in any community she lived in.

She also had a great love of the outdoors and was always out exploring the backroads and trails of BC. She always seemed able to find the best spot for wild berries or mushrooms. Even in her later years when her mobility was limited, she was always the first to say “Let’s see where this road goes!”.

Beth was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Browning in 1989. She is survived by her children, David Joseph Browning of Slave Lake, AB, Brian Browning of Canoe and Gillian Browning of Vernon, BC. She also leaves behind three grandchildren.
