Betty Lou was born in Elfross, Saskatchewan, to parents Henry and Stella Thorarinson. The family moved to the Salmon Arm area in 1946. She attended school in Balmoral, South Canoe, and graduated from J.L. Jackson Jr. Sr. High School in 1958. She met her husband to be, David, in high school and they were married in 1959.
Betty Lou was a community minded person. A Past President and Life Member of the Kinette Club, local coordinator for the Kidney Foundation Drive for Funds, Coordinator for the Arts and Crafts section for the Salmon Arm Fall Fair and Member of the Dove Rebecca Lodge.
She was predeceased by her parents and brother Henry (Bud) Thorarinson. Betty Lou will be forever remembered and loved by her husband David, daughters Blair Mohr (Rod), Deena Reid (Grant), sons Ryan, Steven (Jenny), Sisters Marlene Trethewey (JO), Sharon Lavoie (Roger), brother Larry (Dorie), grandchildren Nelson, Levi (Natalie), Teara, Carling, Willem, and by great grandchildren Jaxon and Eila.
A celebration of Life was held on November 10, 2018, at Bowers Funeral Home. She will be remembered as a loving, vibrant, and fun-loving person.
