Bruce Nelson Bolton, born near Waldron, Saskatchewan, passed away in Vernon, BC on February 21, 2018 at the age of 87 years.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years Eleanore Bolton, three children; Bruce (Ivy), Brenda (John) Heywood, & Byron (Sheryl), nine grandchildren; Arlana, Alisa (Derek), Jessica (Del), Stirling, Blythe, Rosemarie (Dmitri), Baxter, Rayel & Katrina, six great grandchildren; Tristan, Kaitlyn, Brandon, Brody, Lily and Logan.

He also leaves his brother Ray Bolton and sister Merle MacDonald. Bruce was predeceased by grandsons Jordan Heywood and Harley Heywood.

In 1946 the Bolton family moved from Saskatchewan to Armstrong, BC when Bruce was 16 years old. In 1949 Bruce began his 20 year career with the Canadian National Railway as a Station Agent. Over the years Bruce was stationed in several different communities including Kwinitsa and Pacific in Northern BC, settling for the majority of his career in the Kamloops area. Bruce lived through the transition from Steam to Diesel Locomotives and from Morse code to Telex and finally the Telephone.

In 1965 Bruce & Eleanore moved their family to a property on the South Thompson River. Early retirement from the CNR was taken in 1974 to follow a lifelong dream to be involved in the ranching industry full time. Over Bruce's time in the Ranching industry they owned properties in the Kamloops area and East of Camrose, Alberta, before settling Bolton Ranch at Six Mile Creek, West of Vernon, BC. Bruce & Eleanore chose to retire in 1994 to their property located on the Shuswap River beneath the Enderby Cliffs.

Bruce was involved in many different organizations over his life including Figure Skating, Scouts, 4H Beef Club, and the North Okanagan Livestock Association. The one passion that remained consistent throughout Bruce's life was music. Bruce learned to play the guitar and sing by listening to the radio while still on the Farm in Saskatchewan. This continued throughout his life, performing at local rodeos in the early years and once settled in Enderby performing at several Senior's Homes nearby.

The family extends special thanks to the excellent care given to Bruce during his time at Heritage Square.

A Memorial Service will be held on April 14, 2018 at 1:00 pm, St. James Anglican Church, 2315 Patterson Avenue, Armstrong, BC.
