In loving memory ~
Carol was born September 8, 1945, in Salmon Arm, B.C., to Dorothy Nelson-Green and William Green. Carol grew up on a farm in the Fraser Valley. In a recent piece of writing, she described the 50s as 'a wonderful decade for any child to grow up in' and her mother as 'my hero.'
Carol married Delbert Mikkelsen in 1962 in Williams Lake and before too long was mother to three sons, Raymond, Todd, and Peter. Carol later moved to Salmon Arm and met the love of her life, Ray Carlaw. They built a life together, living in Salmon Arm, then later settling in Canoe.
Carol was very in involved in community charities such as Bike for Life and served for a term as president of the RC Legion. She loved hiking as a member of the Shuswap Striders, enjoyed the water with the Gray Grebes Dragon Boaters, and loved to travel. Carol was also very involved in recording family history and anecdotes in both fiction and non-fiction as a member of the Shuswap Writers' Group. Her written words serve as a legacy and will provide great comfort to her friends and family for years to come.
Carol passed peacefully in the Shuswap Lake General Hospital with her husband, Ray and hospice worker, Kylie by her side. The family would love to thank the sincere care and efficient and compassionate service of all those people and agencies involved in her medical care including EMS, nurses, hospice, and doctors.
Carol was predeceased by sons Peter and Todd, sister Delores and parents Dorothy and Bill.
She is survived by her husband Ray, son Raymond (Sandra), daughter-in-law Lisa, brothers Gordon and Michael, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her children, grand, and great were one of her most precious joys.
