HARVIE-LeilaniWEB

Leilani left us peacefully on November 5th. Her courage and grace is an inspiration.

Leilani is lovingly remembered by her husband Jim and daughter Elizabeth, and her brother Hudson and sister-in-law Patty, her niece Rachel, nephews Hamilton and Sheldon, sister-in-law Jo-Jo Shutty-MacGregor, and her dear friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Murdena Mack, and her brothers Darrell and Gary (aka Byron MacGregor). Leilani was born and raised in Calgary, and she attended King Edward School before moving to Salmon Arm, BC. After graduation, Leilani worked at CIBC, then returned to Calgary where she worked as an event planner at the Calgary Convention Centre. It was there she met Jim, and they were married on the Garden Terrace on a bitterly cold December 27th, 1992. Leilani was a wonderful mom and adored Elizabeth. She was kind and generous and put others first. Leilani was a great listener, always curious and interested in you, and she loved a good laugh. She was artistic, from her early portrait sketches and doodles, to her paintings, like the Calgary home where her mom was born, to the beautiful needlepoint Christmas stockings that will now mean even more. Broadcasting was also in Leilani’s blood. She loved television and was well informed, watching nightly newscasts not just from Calgary, but her brother’s from Victoria, and others from across the country. She loved games and puzzles, from crosswords and sudoku, to endless hours on the computer and innumerable rounds of Scrabble. Leilani loved animals, especially her dogs Holly and CoCo. She loved her family and friends, and was devoted and loyal. Despite challenges to her health, Leilani did not complain. Special thanks to her palliative care team, and to Jim for his caring and compassion.

A private gathering will celebrate Leilani’s life. Please forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. She was beautiful inside and out, and we will miss her dearly. But we know Leilani will always be with us in our hearts, and she will live forever in our memories.
