Cecelia Caroline (Carol) Hardcastle passed away in Overlander Extended Care, Kamloops, BC on Friday, October 31, 2008 at the age of 87 years.

The funeral service was held from the Royal Canadian Legion, Sicamous, on Saturday, November 8th at 10:00 a.m. with Jack Bowers officiating.

Tributes were shared by family and friends, including Pastor Larry and Sue Peterson, with a solo by granddaughter Suzanne Suerink. Honours were presented by fellow comrades of the Legion with a reception following. Interment followed in the Veterans’ section of Mt. Ida Cemetery.

Carol was born in Birsay, Saskatchewan on August 20, 1921. A veteran of WW II, Carol joined the legion in 1947, arriving in Sicamous in 1969. She served as First Vice President and Second Vice President for several years and continued assisting where she could until her health failed.

She was predeceased by her husband, Taffy Hardcastle, in 1984, son, William Wilson, grandson, David Kachkowski, three sisters, Teresa, Mary and Terri and three brothers, Tom, Francis and John.

Carol is survived by three daughters, Emma Dainard of Kamloops, Sharon Kachkowski of Chilliwack and Linda Poulsen of Quesnel; son, Bob Day of Sicamous; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sister, Josephine (Herman) King of Middle Lake, SK; brother, Jim (Jo Ann) Doherty of Red Rock, ON.
