Born in Frankfort, Indiana USA and moved to Edson, Alberta where he married his first wife, Helen Marie Waniandy and had two children; daughter, Pearl (Bratiuk) and son, Harvey Joseph (Waniandy). Charles was predeceased by Helen in 1941. Charles then married Anne Heppner in 1961, they then moved to Terrace, BC and then to Salmon Arm, BC and after Anne’s passing in Salmon Arm, Charles then moved to his final home in Edmonton, AB, where he passed away on January 11, 2011 at the age of 99 years.
Charles was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Pearl Hoppe; his first wife, Helen Marie Hoppe (Waniandy); granddaughter, Susan Bratiuk; brother, Jim Hoppe; sister, Cecil Thompson (Hoppe); son, Harvey Waniandy; second wife, Anne Hoppe (Heppner) and son-in-law, Jacob Bratiuk.
Charles leaves behind his daughter, Pearl Bratiuk; grandchildren, Philip (Wendy) Bratiuk, Brenda (Doug) Kincade; great-grandchildren, Shawn (Annette) Kincade and their children, Kylie and Tyler; Sheila (Frank) Lavoie and their Children, Damion, Logan, Jayden, Ethan and Tristin, David Bratiuk, Kathy (Rico) Kincade and their child, Leah, and Karen Kincade.
The Funeral Service was held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm on Monday, January 17th, at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Dave Penner officiating. Interment followed in Mount Ida Cemetery, Salmon Arm.
