It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tina Bartman on April 2, 2017 at the age of 94.

Tina is survived by her son Russell (Cathy), daughter Sheila (Ernie), son Bryan, daughter in law, Sharron, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, sister Cathy Jameson, extended family and many wonderful friends.

Tina was predeceased by her husband Ralph in 2015 and son Bruce in 1985.

Tina was born on March 27, 1923 in Kippen, Scotland and immigrated to Canada with her family at the age of 4. She grew up in Silver Creek and left home at an early age to work at the Banff Springs Hotel, Boeing in Vancouver, S.A.F.E., and the Packing House in Salmon Arm. She met Ralph in Salmon Arm and they married in 1951 and raised their family there. She and Ralph owned and operated a cafe in Canoe and later the Snack Bar on Front Street. Tina also worked at the Co-op Dry Goods and the Shuswap Inn in Salmon Arm.

Over the years, Tina was involved in the Kinette Club, Salmon Arm Curling Club and volunteered at the Shuswap Harvest.

We are so thankful for the wonderful, long, healthy and productive life that Mom had. We will miss her every day and think of her with love and gratitude for the beautiful person that she was. Thank you to Dr. McLellan, Hillside Village, Shuswap Lodge and the nurses at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital for their compassionate care.

A Celebration of Tina’s life will be held April 13, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Elks Hall, 3690 – 30 St. NE, Salmon Arm. Donations can be made to Haney Heritage Society, Box 1642, Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4P7.
