Clare Jackson passed away peacefully at Hillside Village on April 10, 2008 with family and friends at her side. With her was her long time friend and care giver Gloria Henschell, Don Henschell, Grandson Devan Desmarais, and friend Joan Dando. Born August 13, 1919 at Outlook, Saskatchewan, she had lived in Salmon Arm many years after retiring form the Hudsons Bay in Calgary.

She is survived by her son John (Sandra) Jackson and their son, daughter Shauneen (Al) Middelton and their two sons and one daughter, as well as their children, all of Calgary. A sister Helen and a special nephew Gerald living in Kerrobert, Sask. Clare was predeceased 18 years ago by her daughter Candy-True. Candy left her children , twin boys Devan and Dyland Desmarais, and Sorrel Desmarais. Now Clare leaves Devan (Jennifer), Dyland (Lindsay) and their daughter and Sorell. Clare was also predeceased by her husband John in 1973, as well as other siblings and relatives. The years she spent living alone she was very independent. She was an active member of the Mt. Ida congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses - taking great delight in the house to house ministry.

She now waits for the resurrection, the hope she held so strong to live again on a Paradise earth . The Bible passage at Psalms 37:29 was her strength “The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.” She took pride in her personal appearance and didn’t put her high heels aside until she was forced to. She had lived at Hillside Village for 2 years 5 months, where she was loved and cared for superbly by all the staff. At times Clare was a challenge because of her illness but the staff never waivered in their devoted care for her, right up until she took her last breath. I as her care giver thank the nurses, LPN’s and caregivers of Cottage #4 for their compassionate attention to her needs.

A memorial will be held at 2 P.M. on May 3, 2008 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Garfield Chursky presenting Clare’s Biblical hope. Anyone who touched Clare’s life is invited to attend. A family dinner to follow. I thank Fischer’s for their professional kindness.
