CHISHOLM, CONSTANCE HELEN

(nee Dingwall)

On Wednesday, February 23, 2011, Connie died peacefully at Schaffer Residence at Oakside, near Salmon Arm.

Born in Inverness, February 14, 1920, Connie Dingwall married John Chisholm October 10, 1946. With their three daughters they emigrated to Canada in May 1957. Connie’s life centered on her family and the church: St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Inverness, St. Margaret’s Cedar Cottage, Vancouver and St. John the Evangelist, Salmon Arm.

A life member of the Anglican Church Women (W.A.) she worked tirelessly in the Dorcas Department at W.A. House Vancouver. Her work with the Auxiliary to the Vancouver School of Theology was recognized with an honorary life membership. Connie loved knitting for her family and others, continuing in her final years making shawls for the Poco a Poco Safe Motherhood Project in Guatemala.

Predeceased by her husband John (Jan 1999), sister Peggy (Oct 2004), brothers Ian (Jan 2010) and Donald (Oct 2010); she is survived by sisters Flora Nalliah, England and Mary Mackenzie, Scotland.

Connie will be greatly missed by her three daughters and their families: Rhoda and Stewart Milloy- their children Claire Milloy and Glenn Toddun; Duncan and Shannon Milloy (Lochlan and Morgan). Christine and Pat Hutchins- their children Sheila and Farley Klotz (Annika and Aria); Amy and Ewan Smith (Ella and Kira); Elizabeth and David Van Bergeyk (Ben, Claire and Ian). Ann and Larry Henkelman- their children Erika and Douglas Annala (Ainsley and Aisha); Sarah Henkelman and Dave Barck.

Connie also leaves behind many beloved nephews, nieces and their families.

Special thanks go to the gentle, caring staff of Schaffer Residence at Oakside, who with her doctors Marc Lourens and Richard Currie always treated Connie with dignity and respect.

A memorial service will be held Saturday March 5, 2011 1:00 pm at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Salmon Arm, BC with a tea to follow in the Parish Hall.
