David Allister Sawyer passed away at his home in Notch Hill on Tuesday, May 4th at the age of 54. David was born in Kamloops, B.C. on December 9, 1954, the third of four children of Kenneth and Mary Sawyer.
He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth (1971), Mary (1980) and sister Norma (Rob) Jerome (1986).
David moved to Calgary to pursue his career as an auto body mechanic and in the ensuing years moved back and forth several times from Sorrento to Calgary. In 1995, he moved to Kelowna where he lived for two years then back to Calgary once more. David returned to the Shuswap in June of 2006.
David will be remembered for his quiet manner, his wry sense of humour and his ability to turn his hand to almost anything ‘fixable’. Left to remember him are his sisters, Sylvia (Dennis) of Bashaw, Alberta and Heather (Duane) of Sorrento along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A memorial will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Sorrento on Thursday, May 14th at 1:30 p.m.
