David Lloyd George Powell, passed away on October 16, 2011 at Shuswap Lake General Hospital at the age of 87 years. David was born in Cleveland, Ohio, USA on April 13, 1924.
He was predeceased by his parents Roselyn and William and is survived by his loving wife Helen, children Glen, Gayle and Sandra, step children Cheryl, Leanne, Robert and Randy as well as five grandchildren.
David worked for the Canadian Navy and was a High School Teacher. David and Helen loved the Shuswap area and enjoyed a summer home on the lake at Sorrento before becoming permanent residents of Salmon Arm over 30 years ago from Burnaby.
He was an avid skier and guitarist, and loved music and to read.
Thanks to the medical and care staff at the Shuswap Lodge, Piccadilly Park Place and Shuswap Lake General Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Fischer’s Funeral Services with Pastor Ken Finstad officiating.
