Dean Rownd, peacefully passed away in Bastion place on November 14 2019, with his granddaughter Steffanie and her husband Steven Bland by his side.
Dean is survived by his children Rae (Jerry) Davis, Dean Rownd Jr, Don (Zillah) Rownd, Wade (Sarah) Rownd, Alex Rownd, Janice (Greg) Traverse, and Roy (Liisa) Rownd, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great greats, as well as extended family and friends.
Dean was born in Vancouver B.C. on December 5, 1924. At age 17 he proudly joined the Navy where he fought for our country in WW 2. After the war Dean became a Class A electrician and boiler/gas fitter. He married Hazel Janes and raised 7 children in North Vancouver. Dean had itchy feet traveling and living in many places in B.C. Being a social guy he always found a spot for the local BS. Dean(84) remarried to Martha Duna(88) living in N Van. for 4 content years until she passed. He found his way to Salmon Arm where he resided on his son's now granddaughters property and stayed at the Shuswap Lodge for a short time. You could find Dean as a regular at the Legion, talking with friends, winning the odd meat draw and enjoying the Friday music.
We would like to thank the caring staff at the Shuswap Lodge, Shuswap Lake Hospital and Bastion Place. A celebration of life will be held in the Spring 2020 at the Salmon Arm farm.
