July 11, 1942 - October 20, 2018
It is with much sadness that I say good bye to my dear Don, who passed away October 20 in Shuswap Lake General Hospital, a week after having a major stroke at home. Although he was comfortable that last week, it was painful for family and friends as we loved and comforted him 24 hours a day until he took his last breath with myself and Tracy holding him close.

Don was born in Edmonton on July 11, 1942. In 1952, as a young boy, along with his four brothers and two sisters, his family settled in Salmon Arm. He helped farm with his family on the same property where he lived and passed. Farming wasn't Don's passion, so he started his kitchen cabinet business on our property in 1980. He loved the smell of wood more than cows and didn't have to get up so early to say good morning. When we were married March 18, 1977, he inherited my three children, Shawn, Tracy and Blaine and their offspring at the same time. He loved them, and they loved him.

We travelled many times to Hawaii, starting with our honeymoon, then Mexico, as well as other countries including Fiji where we went twice as it was his favorite.

Life is more enjoyable than death, but Don, one of Jehovah's Witnesses, had the Bible hope promised by the Lord's Prayer "Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done on Earth". He will see the reality of Psalms 37:29 "The Righteous Will Possess the Earth, and they Will Live Forever on it".

His Memorial will be held on November 3 at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 721 2nd St. SE, Salmon Arm with Mr. Garfield Chursky leading in the remembrance of Don. A tea and visiting will follow, all are welcome!!!

I thank all the family and friends who loyally visited Don and cared for me then and continue to do so now.

Thank you to the paramedics who came twice, the emergency staff and all the nurses on the fourth floor that looked after Don and me, who had a bed beside him. A giant hug and thanks to Dr. Baldwin and Dr. Rose, they are the greatest Doctors with the most love and compassion I have ever experienced.

I now say "I Love You Don - See You in Paradise"
