It is with sadness that the family of Donald Walle Schmidek announce his sudden passing October 25, 2011 at his residence in Salmon Arm, BC. They are however, comforted in knowing that he has gone home to be with his Lord.
Don is survived by: his parents Joe and Florence Preston of Enderby, BC; brother Brian (Sharon) Schmidek; nieces Kelsi and Kari; sister Kathy Schmidek (Wilson Tan) all of Calgary, AB; step sister Lynda Preston-Olson of Armstrong, BC; step brother Ernie (Judy) Preston; step niece Bev (Brian) Mullen and their children Drake and Allison all of Port Alberni, BC; step nephew Dan Crocker of Fort St. John, BC; and step brother Mike (Tammy) Preston and their children Austin and Gaige of Coombs, BC.
Also mourning the loss are his Aunt Laura, Aunt Ella, Aunt Vi, Aunt Doreen and numerous cousins and extended family.
Don was also blessed with cherished friends; Pastor John Kappes, Ted Lassard and Elida Raven of Salmon Arm, BC and Les Varro of Nanaimo, BC.
Special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Dirk Breugem and many dear friends who have supported Don and his family with their prayers and kindnesses throughout the years.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at Fischer’s Funeral Services with Pastor John Kappes officiating.
