Donna-Lynne Hughes, loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, and friend, was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on August 25, 1946 and passed away at her home, in Sicamous, B.C. on June 01, 2016 with her three children by her side.

She grew up on her family’s generational farm in Edenwold, Saskatchewan, attended high school at Luther College in Regina, then obtained her Teaching Degree from The University of Regina. She was an accomplished student and talented piano musician.

After obtaining her degree, she broadened her knowledge of the world by traveling for a year in Europe, then returned home where she worked as a teacher in Balgonie and Edenwold, Saskatchewan. Shortly after, she met the love of her life, Daryl Hughes. They were married on the family farm then moved to British Columbia where she taught, and they raised their family in the communities of Kelowna, Keremeos, Dawson Creek, New Hazelton, and Sicamous.

Donna-Lynne walked a path in life giving endless love to her family and friends. She brought smiles and laughter to those around her while enjoying conversation, dancing, music, being a chef, and savouring a glass of wine. She delighted in traveling throughout Canada with her family, as well as Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, and the Oregon Coast with her husband. She was a great listener, had a huge heart, warm smile, and enriched the lives of people around her with her compassion, wisdom, and guidance.

Mom, grandma, Donna-Lynne... We love you and miss you beyond what words can express. The gentle presence of your beautiful soul will remain forever in our hearts and minds, and give us comfort as we move forward. We will always think of you, and find strength. As you taught us, life is beautiful, live it to the fullest with those you love.

Donna-Lynne is survived by her cherished children Jenna (Jordie), Tyler, Jarrett (Colleen), adored grandchildren Triton, Toby, and Lincoln, mother-in-law Beatrice Hughes, sister Cheryl, brother Rodney, numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her husband Daryl Hughes, father Ernest Koch, mother Evelyn Koch, and father-in-law Frederick Hughes.

There will be no public funeral service as Donna-Lynne requested a private celebration of life to be arranged by her children. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to The Shuswap Hospital Foundation (www.shuswaphospitalfoundation.org) or the charity of your choice.
