It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Doreen Ida Brown (nee Chatterson) on February 14th, 2025 at Brookhaven Care Centre in West Kelowna B.C. Doreen passed peacefully with family at her side. She was predeceased by her husband Ron and daughter Lorie-Ann and is survived by her son Craig (Carol) Brown, Grandson Justin (Taryn), Granddaughters Rebecca, Rachael and Sarah (Kellie) and Great Grand Children Laura, Hayley, Konnor, Kayson, Kinley, Gavin, Carter and Matthew.
Doreen Ida Chatterson was born to Russel and Bea Chatterson Nov. 13/1933 on the Clark farm, 8 miles Northeast of Wolseley Saskatchewan.
She started school at the Poplar Grove one room schoolhouse near her family's farm. Doreen continued there for her first 9 grades before starting High school in Wolseley. Doreen would talk about having a great life during those years, going to Katepewa lake on camping trips with her friends in the Summer and how she loved to Curl in Winter. In high school Doreen met her future husband, Ron Brown. Ron and Doreen were married Dec. 19th,1953 at the United Church at Wolseley.After high school, Doreen worked in Regina for Sask Power and after Ron had established a permanent job with the CPR at Wilkie she transferred to Sask Power in nearby Saskatoon.
In the summer of 1963 the family, now with 2 children (Lorie-Ann and Craig) in tow, moved out to greener pastures in Salmon Arm B.C. Doreen and Ron eventually got into the retail business where they worked together for the next several years until retirement. Throughout her life Doreen served as a tremendous example to us all, her unconditional love and support unwavering.
The family would very much like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Brookhaven Care Centre for their kindness, hard work and compassionate care provided to Doreen over her entire stay. We are forever grateful. A celebration of life will be held at a time and location yet to be announced.
