Dorothy Barbara Walters (née Wright), known as Dodie died August 26 2010 in Salmon Arm. Dodie was born on February 14, 1936 in Salmon Arm where she finished high school and then moved to Vancouver where she completed her teaching certificate in 1955. She taught in Barrier until her marriage in 1957. She continued to teach in various locations in British Columbia until she returned to the Salmon Arm area 35 years ago.
Dodie was predeceased by her parents Eric and Helen Wright and her husband Gwyn. She is survived by her children Jim (Barbara), Gary (Lynn), and Warren (Faye), her grandchildren Derek, Brian, Shawn, Allisa, Samantha and Trevor and by her sisters Ferne Parker, Thyra Smyrl and her brother James Wright.
Dodie loved nature, the lake and local history. Dodie was an active member of BC Hydro`s Power Pioneers.
A celebration of Dodie`s life was held at her home on Shuswap Lake on September 5, 2010.
