It is with sadness, and happiness that we share with you the passing of our mother, grandmother, aunt, great-aunt and great-grandmother, Dorothy Helen Kolotylo (nee Sanborn) suddenly on June 30, 2021, aged 87. Sadness at our sudden loss, tempered by the happy anticipation of a glorious reunion for her and her husband Frank, who passed from us on April 16, 2017. They were married 54 years, and will be together now unto eternity.
This mother of 4, grandmother of 8, great-grandmother to 1, aunt and great-aunt to handfuls, and friend to countless, will be remembered dearly as the Warden, Grandma-Woozers, Babadot and many other colourful names created to describe her great personality.
Born in a cabin on Charlie Lake, BC in 1934, the youngest of six, she moved with her family to the Okanagan before settling in Grindrod. She worked for the PGE in Williams Lake, where she met Frank and the two settled to raise their kids. Upon retirement they moved to the Salmon Arm area, where they built a home on a property that Dorothy, her father and brother logged with horses in the 1940's.
Always active in the community, whether in Glendale, Williams Lake or in Salmon Arm, she will be remembered by friends and by many who enjoy the results of her years of work in Girl Guides, Glendale Improvement District, Regional District, Elections Canada and many other areas that she put her hand to.
Thank you mom for flowers, hikes, hugs, Sunday drives, cereal that rots your teeth (from the grandkids), your amazing sense of humour and especially your support for whatever we put our hearts to. We will never be without you, even though we will always miss you.
