Doug was born on January 10th, 1940 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba and peacefully met his Lord Sunday, August 14th, 2011. Doug loved the outdoors, the mountains, hunting and fishing. He served his community of Canoe as a volunteer firefighter for 14 years and he worked for School District #89/83 as a groundsman for 25 years. Doug is survived by his wife, Kathie, their 4 children and spouses and 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, as well as his sister, Lynn.
A funeral service for Doug was held at Crossroads Free Methodist Church on Wednesday, August 17th, 2011 at 1:00pm with Pastor George Fleming officiating.Interment followed the service at Mt. Ida Cemetery and a reception concluded the celebration of Doug’s life in the church hall allowing family and friends to continue sharing memories.
