1930 - 2019 ~ Doug passed away on July 11, 2019 at Salmon Arm, BC at the age of 89 years. He was born in Calgary, AB where he lived until 1992. He moved to Shuswap Lake in 1997 - first to Blind Bay until 2006 and then to Salmon Arm.
He is survived by his loving wife Lynn, daughters Kristine (Greg) & Janice, granddaughters Lindsay (Jamie), Kari (Cody), Kate & Samantha (Pella), three great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Bert and Keitha, sister Dorothy, brothers Gordon & Norman, first wife Betty Ann and two nephews.
Doug attended school in Calgary graduating from Crescent Height High in 1948. He then went on to graduate from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (electronics). He also took an Extension Course a U of C and Mount Royal College (Human Relations, Business Administration, Sales & Marketing). Doug's careers included TV and Electronics for five years, the Oil patch-seismic for 7 years, Xerox Canada for ten years, Business owner for 20 years, Forestry for five years and self-employment for 20 years.
Doug was active with various church and community organizations including Uncles At Large, Charter Member Calgary Winter Club - Board of Directors, Junior Chamber of commerce for many years and was named Senator in 1979, model Aeronautics Association of Canada - Zone Director for BC & Yukon, member of Board of Directors & Executive Committee Leader Member Hall of Fame and the Salmon Arm Chamber of Commerce - Director.

Thank you to Dr. Louw - who traveled every step with us on this journey - his hand was always there and his words of comfort helped comfort and put at ease the fear of the unknown and also the nursing team from palliative care - you do go above and beyond - he looked forward to your visits.
Dougie was the love of my life and I will still travel the bends in the road with him - Lynnie
