It is with great sadness that the families of Eero Ihalainen announce his passing at the early age of 75.

Born in Viipuri, Finland, Eero was, from an early age, an avid admirer of the ocean, and translated this passion by becoming a Canadian West Coast salmon fisherman and mechanic after immigrating to Canada in 1957 with wife Terttu (d.).  Eero (Terttu) will be dearly missed by their two daughters Tuija (Giles) and Eva Helen (Wayne), grandchildren Elisse, Caitlin, James and Chloe, brother Pekka (Irma) and sister Eeva (Risto).

Eero is survived by his loving wife Seija (Saari) Ihalainen and her daughters Jaana, Julia and Tanja and their families.

Eero enjoyed the last few years of his life in the Salmon Arm area where he enjoyed walking his dogs Mon Ami and Moses, and discussing the beauty of life with his family.

Eero will be remembered as a loving and caring father, grandfather, husband and friend.  He was a true adventurer and dreamer.

Seija would like to thank the Salmon Arm Hospital staff for their excellent care.

At Eero’s request, there will be no service. Celebration of Life will follow at later date.
