Eleanor Kusisto

October 10, 1930 - August 28, 2018
Bonnie was born in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan to Howard and Bertha Thurston. She moved to Salmon Arm with her parents and five of six siblings in 1946. The family settled in Gleneden. In 1948 Bonnie met her future husband, Hans, they were married in 1949 and started their life together on their farm in Gleneden. Bonnie lived on that farm until last Christmas when failing health forced her to move in with her daughter. She spent the remaining two months of her life in Bastion Place.

Bonnie always insisted on having a big garden which she shared with friends and family. She raised chickens and sold eggs. To Bonnie's grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was a master baker; they always looked forward to her home baked bread, buns and homemade jam. She was an avid curler, playing into her 70's, with a host of trophies for her efforts. Her time in the winter months was spent putting together jigsaw puzzles. She was always up for a game of cards and a cup of tea, which her loved ones looked forward to sharing with her. Bonnie had a strong community spirit and for many years was an active member of the Gleneden Ladies Club.

She is predeceased by her husband Hans of 65 years. She is survived by her children Nancy (Morley) and Jim (Karen), grandchildren Erin (Jeff), Tanya (Matt), Chad (Lindsay), Jason (Karen) and great grandchildren Megan, Brynn, Kaia, Kennedy, Jack, Cameron, Raylie, Emily and Brooklyn.

Thank you to the staff at Bastion Place for their care and kindness making her last days as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

There will be a celebration of life on September 15, 2018 starting at 1:30 pm at the Gleneden Hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer society of BC through a link found on the Bowers Funeral Service web site: www.bowersfuneralservice.com.
