On March 21, 2010, Eleanor peacefully passed away while on vacation in Florida with her daughters. She was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1994, her mother Julia in 1979 and her father John in 1991.

Born Elena Pavlina Cavarova on January 24, 1928 in Tisovec, Czechoslovakia, she came to Canada with her mother in 1936. They joined her father and began dairy farming in Thunder Bay, Ontario. This is where her brother Mike, Joe and John were born. After becoming a stenographer, she met Jack in Terrace Bay, Ontario and married on March 10, 1950. Their daughters Cindy was born in 1951 and Brenda in 1955 in Edmonton, Alberta. After various moves they settled in Marathon, Ontario and lived there for 32 years. When Jack retired they moved to Salmon Arm, BC in 1991.

Eleanor had many passions; nature, animals and the arts were top of her list. For years it was a common sight to see Eleanor and her furry companion Ren, walking all the trails around Salmon Arm. Eleanor was an active volunteer in the community and a cherished member of the Deo Lutheran Church. She truly felt that the church was her home and the parishioners her family. We are comforted knowing she is now with God.

Eleanor leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Cindy (Paul) Mair and Brenda Wood (Jerry Lehoux), grandchildren; Adam, Tanner, Dana, Justin, Crystal, and great-granddaughter Sophia, her three brothers and sister in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews.

“I believe in the miracle of the resurrection everywhere apparent; for it assures me that life is triumphant, and that death is but another phase of life”

Eleanor was cremated and a memorial service was held on March 31, 2010 at the Deo Lutheran church, Salmon Arm, BC with Pastor Erik Bjorgan, officiating.

Donations if so desired, can be made in memory of Eleanor to the Deo Lutheran Church Memorial Fund,  1801-30th Street NE, Salmon Arm, BC V1E 2Z5 or Shuswap Second Harvest, Box 1062, Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4P2 Tel: (250) 833-4011
