Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away suddenly on Wednesday evening in Salmon Arm. She was at her home, in her favourite room – the kitchen – and her passing was as quick as she always hoped it would be.

Left behind to mourn are her five children and their families: Janet (Toni), grandchildren, Biran, Troy, Angelica and Tia; Ian, grandson, Luc; Andrew (Karen), stepgrandson, Tyler; Cate (Tom), grandkitties, Sigi and Simone; Bruce (Lisa) and granddaughter, Nia. As well, she leaves two stepsons, John and Jim Mahood and stepgrandchildren, Mitchell and Brittany. Also mourning are her first husband and friend, Doug Hanington, her close friend and sister, Pat (Bill) Brocklesby, brothers Bob (Kathleen) Stokes, Pete (Signy) Stokes, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her second husband Joseph Mahood.

Services were held in Salmon Arm at First United Church on Tuesday October 20 at 10:30 a.m., and in Calgary at St. George’s Anglican Church on Thursday October 22 at 3:30 p.m.

Her favourite charities were the Stephen Lewis Foundation, Grandmothers to Grandmothers and the SPCA.
