In loving memory ~
It is with deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our mother Evelyn Marie Schnare. She was born in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, to parents Evelyn and Ainley Hynick, on September 8th, 1929. Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving daughter Beth and husband Gordon.
She leaves to morn, her children Tom (Helen), Beth (Dave), Graham (Miriam), Philippe (Sarah). Nanny will be missed by her grandchildren Kimberly (Braven), Oliver (Kyla), Angela (Ryan), Teressa, Dante, Gordon (Karoliina), Louise, Wyatt, Tessa, and Great grand baby Stevie.
She got her teacher's license at Nova Scotia Normal College and then spent five years teaching at two county schools Martin's Brook and Mader's Cove, when her high school boyfriend (Gordon Schnare) was on a militia trip to British Columbia, he decided that this was the place he wanted to spend his life.
He called Marie to see if she was agreeable to the idea, after their marriage. So after he received his high school teaching license, they married on June 27th, 1953.
Meanwhile she was very surprised to be chosen Queen of the Seas at the Lunenburg Fisheries Exhibition in 1948.
They lived in Falkland, B.C. for three years and then moved to Armstrong, BC and spent the rest of their lives there. She spent seven years on Armstrong City Council.
The family spent two years at Metz, France where Gordon taught at the base school of the Canadian Arm Forces. Together they spent five summers as Park ambassadors at various BC Provincial Parks.
She was predeceased by her sister Shirley and her husband Gordon. Marie wishes to thank the lovely staff members, at Parkview Place. Marie requested no service, and wanted to be cremated, and interment with Gordon at the Armstrong/Spallumcheen Cemetery.
