It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Evelyn May Wood at Hillside Village, Salmon Arm, BC on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the age of 84 years, with her daughter, Helen, son-in-law Frank, and favorite pet, Levi, at her side.

Born in York Co. Toronto, Ontario on May 3, 1932, she was raised on a farm in Ontario, coming to BC at the age of 6 years. Evelyn was working in Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke, when she met Doug, they married on November 18, 1950. She gave birth to her three children in Revelstoke, later moving to Sicamous.

Evelyn lived an active life, working with Snow White Laundry, a cook at the Husky Restaurant, as well with resorts on the Channel. Evelyn was President of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary for 10 plus terms, and was honored in 2001 with a long time membership with the Sicamous Royal Canadian Legion, as well a Life member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, where she devoted countless hours of volunteer work. Evelyn suffered with failing health for many years, this caused her concern with lack of energy to continue with her contribution to the Legion and community.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Beatrice Hindry, her beloved husband, Doug of 43 years, who passed away on September 27, 1993.

Evelyn leaves her three children, Brenda (Philip) Zak of Sicamous, John (Donna) Wood of Armstrong, and Helen (Frank) Rule of Sicamous; many Grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of good friends.

A Celebration of life service was held from the Royal Canadian Legion, Sicamous, on Tuesday afternoon, August 23rd at 1:30 p.m. with Jack Bowers the Funeral Celebrant.

Legion honors were presented by Padre Fred Duck, with the Ladies of the Legion Auxiliary presenting a tribute.

Interment followed in the family plot in Solsqua Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Trestan Wood, Terance Wood, Al Robert, and Kevin Bolen.
