On the evening of August 19, 2010 at Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Frank Mahringer at the age of 85, passed away peacefully with his wife of 48 years, Madeline by his side.

Frank was born in Linz, Austria on January 1st, 1925 and immigrated to Canada in 1953.

Frank was a resident of Sicamous for over 44 years and worked as a blaster for the Tunnel & Rock Worker’s Union of BC, Local #168 on various projects including Mica Dam and Revelstoke Dam, and all over Canada and the Yukon as well.

Frank will be lovingly remembered by his wife Madeline, son’s Ken of Victoria, Franz of Sicamous, daughters, Irene (Rob Nieminen) Mahringer of Sicamous, Vickie (Terrance) Head of Salmon Arm, as well as his grandchildren, Christopher, Jessica, Darien and Dawson. He will also be missed by his cat, Goldie.

Frank loved to fish and hunt. He took great pride in his vegetable garden, but his real passion was snowmobiling.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Jack Beech, the nurses and staff of SLGH for the care given to Frank and the compassion shown to his family during this difficult time.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 26th at 2:00 p.m. at Fischer’s Funeral Home in Salmon Arm with Chaplain Bill Kiesman officiating.
