Born in Vancouver Nov. 13, 1959. Died in Edmonton Aug. 7, 2020.
It is with heavy hearts we say, farewell Gary Schaff. Only 60 years young, his passing was sudden and unexpected. Given all his past triumphs over tribulations, we somehow figured he would outlive us all. Gary always saw a way up, even when he was in a low spot.
After suffering a life altering event he rose up to compete in the 1988 Seoul Paralympics where he medalled in discus. He also enjoyed mentoring and coaching other athletes for several years.
Predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Lucie Schaff - Gary will be greatly missed by the family and friends he has left behind.
A graveside service will be held in Mt. Ida Cemetery, Salmon Arm, BC on Saturday, October 17th, at 2 pm with Celebrant Jack Bowers officiating.
