The Loftus family is saddened to announce the passing of George "Bud" Loftus on January 24, 2020.
Bud was born in Vancouver, BC on June 25, 1930 to Lillian Pink and Fred Loftus. In his early years his family moved to Edmonton and it was here where Bud grew up and discovered the game of golf. His passion for the game of golf aided in his development and proficiency into a long and very accomplished career as a golf professional.
It was also in Edmonton where Bud met and married Virginia Mae (Pidge) his wife of 64 years. His professional golf career began at the Willowdale GC in Moose Jaw SK, to the Regal GC (now the Winston GC) in Calgary and eventually, in 1963 to the Calgary Golf & CC where he remained the golf professional till 1975. Following a move to Celista BC, Bud continued his passion, love and involvement for golf while taking positions at Shuswap Lake Estates GC and the Edson Golf Club. Finally, Bud and Pidge settled in Salmon Arm area in BC.
Bud will be missed by his six children: Robert (Rose), Jim (Brenda), Michael (Yvonne), Patrick (Linda), Cindy (Rob) and Tammy (Ted). 12 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren. Bud was predeceased by his wife Pidge (2015) and grandson Michael Robinson (1997).
