George Joseph Gurr passed away peacefully in Bastion Place, Salmon Arm BC after a battle with cancer at the age of 74 years.  Joe drove taxi in Salmon Arm for many, many years until quite recently when his illness no longer allowed him to drive.  A lifelong resident of Salmon Arm, BC and respected elder of Adams Lake Band, Joe never married but developed many close friendships.  In 1976 Joe joined AA.  With a combination of his strong will, beliefs and support from the group, he was extremely committed to his sobriety until his passing.  Joe, a man of few words and dry wit, will be sadly missed by all.

Joe is survived by his loving family, niece Colleen Gurr (Larry Halbot), niece Lorie Konge (Leo Konge), great niece and nephew Mellissa Purr (Mike Purr), Brandon Myers, as well as great great nephews Blake and Hayden Purr.

We, the family would like to thank all the staff at Bastion Place for their outstanding care of Uncle Joe.
